Behavior Consequences

  • Verbal Warning
  • Lunch Detention
  • Teacher Detention/Parent Contact
  • Office Referral/Parent Contact

In the case of behaviors which the teacher considers extreme, unusual, or which results in the destruction of property or presents a danger to any individual, the teacher may refer the student immediately to a school administrator, regardless of the number of previous infractions. Students who present classroom disruptions may be temporarily removed from the instructional setting in order to minimize further disruptions. A parent-teacher conference may be required in some instances.

Students are only allowed to handle equipment that has been assigned to them. Playing jokes or pranks on friends by hiding instruments, folders, music, and other belongings is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. This affects the whole class in preparing to start class. Consequences for such behaviors will result in immediate detention.

Orchestra students must demonstrate respect for the learning environment at all times. Behaviors that are distracting to the class are regarded as serious disciplinary infractions. Students are expected to meet all expectations in the River Trail Middle School’s Agenda Code of Conduct and Technology Policies.
